About PRF
Platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) is a type of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) that is created by a centrifuge. PRP is a blood product that is rich in platelets, which are cells that help to clot blood and promote healing. PRF is created by spinning blood at a lower speed than PRP, which results in a higher concentration of platelets and fibrin. Fibrin is a protein that helps to form a clot and provides a scaffold for tissue growth.
PRF is used in a variety of medical procedures, including:
Dental implants: PRF can be used to help promote healing around dental implants.
Joint surgery: PRF can be used to help promote healing after joint surgery.

For the aesthetic industry, we use I-PRF. I-PRF is created with a special centrifuge protocol and is higher in fibrin concentration. Unlike PRP, PRF uses clean tubes (no anticoagulant), so only your own blood product is going back to your skin. It is also thick (viscosity) and clot-resistant which is ideal for soft tissue regeneration and augmentation.
For the whole face, we use cannula technique and spread it out throughout the face. It is not filler-like. Instead, it heals your skin from within where it's inserted. PRF treatments are great for nasolabial folds, under eyes, and even 11s, with a very low risk of occlusion in comparison to synthetic fillers.
Other areas we can treat with I-PRF include the neck, décolletage, hands, and skin on top of knees or elbows.
I-PRF can be applied to the skin in two ways: injection or microneedling. Injection is the more effective method, and it typically requires two to three treatments a month apart. Yearly support treatments may also be necessary.
PRF Treatment Summary
Procedure
During the PRF procedure, a small sample of your blood is drawn by our phlebotomist and then spun in a centrifuge to separate the platelets and fibrin from the rest of the blood. We have a clean room to transfer PRF to prepare syringes for injections. For the injection delivery method, our registered nurse will prepare injection sites with local or topical anesthetic and will inject PRF into your selected areas, such as around the eyes, lips, face, or body.
The procedure is performed in our office and typically takes about half an hour. If you choose the microneedling delivery method, our aesthetician will numb your selected area and will microneedle the solution instead of injections. This will take about 45 min. Larger areas may take additional time.

Recovery
Treatment requires minimal downtime, so you can return to your daily routine immediately after you leave our office. Please use all mineral and physical sunscreen during recovery. Also, wear a hat and sunglasses if we completed work on your face. No direct sunlight for 30 days, especially if you microneedled.
Results
The PRF injections and microneedling continues working for the next two weeks. Your body will still be absorbing the introduced material for up to three weeks. This results in increased collagen production and elastin fibers, which makes your skin plump and supple. Sagging is eliminated, while the skin looks more lifted and full. Pores will also become much smaller. Dark circles and fine lines around the eyes disappear, eye bags go away, marionette lines and nasolabial folds look more smooth, wrinkles around the mouth are gone, and the color of the lips is restored. Pigmentation issues are also solved. For body parts, skin looks lifted, soft, and thicker, while cellulite and stretch marks are dramatically reduced. The results of PRF treatment are typically long-lasting, and the procedure can be repeated as needed to maintain the results. For delicate areas like eyes and lips, we recommend three treatments to start four to six weeks apart as well as yearly maintenance. With microneedling, it will take more treatments to achieve the same results.
